Betty Cummings, 78, of Ames, died Friday, Jan. 4, at Mary Greeley Medical Center in Ames. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, Jan. 8, at 10:30 a.m., at First United Methodist Church in Ames with burial to follow in Ames Municipal Cemetery.

Betty Cummings was born on Feb. 1, 1929, in Ames, to Harold and Ollie (Ellingson) Craig. She graduated from Ames High School in 1947. She married Thomas Cummings on May 26, 1951.

She is survived by her husband, Thomas Cummings, of Ames; two daughters, Lynn (Jerry) Chapman, of Jamestown, N.D., and Julie Thomas, of West Des Moines; one son, Craig Cummings, of Ames; and two grandsons, Brian and Aaron Chapman, of Fargo, N.D.

She was preceded in death by her parents; and three brothers, Charles, Lowell and Kenneth Craig.

Visitation will be from 6 to 7 p.m. Monday, Jan. 7, at Stevens Memorial Chapel in Ames.
