Dwight Betts, 71, of Hubbard and formerly of Story City, died Sunday, Dec. 30, at home. Services are pending with Soderstrum Funeral Home in Story City.

Dwight E. Betts, 71, of Hubbard and formerly of Story City, died Sunday, Dec.30, at home.

Dwight was born Nov. 7, 1936, in Coon Rapids to Harry and Jesse (Patch) Betts. He married Doris Lelnberg Aug. 21, 1984. He was a zoning officer in Daytona Beach, Fla., for many years. He lived in Story City until 1980 when he moved to Florida and then moved back to the area in 2005.

He is survived by his wife, Doris Betts, of Pittsburgh; two sons, Bob Betts, of Story City, and David Betts (Misty), of Gypsum, Colo.; one granddaughter, Kendall Judith Betts; one brother, Dewey, of Alta; and two sisters, Geraldine Schwab, of Brookfield, Mo., and Icil O'Connell, of Madrid.

He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Ray; and his ex-wife, Judy Betts.

Visitation will be 4 to 7 p.m. Friday Jan. 4 at Soderstrum Funeral Home in Story City. Cremation will follow visitation.
