Anna L. Woodrow, 96, of Boone and formerly of Ames, died Saturday, Dec. 29, at Eastern Star Masonic Home in Boone. Services are pending with Adams Funeral Home in Ames.

Anna Leone Woodrow, 96, of Boone and formerly of Ames, died Saturday, Dec. 29, at Eastern Star Masonic Home in Boone. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 3, at First United Methodist Church in Boone. Burial will be at 2 p.m. in Ames Municipal Cemetery.

Anna was born Feb. 24, 1911, in Boone, to Josias and Martha (Engstrom) Brown. She married Burnerd Woodrow, and he preceded her in death in 1985. She was raised on a farmstead near Boone with five brothers and two sisters. She graduated from Iowa State University in 1934 with a major in home economics and a minor in mathematics. She taught school and was a home economist and a county extension agent before marriage. She then assisted her husband on farms in Birmingham, Dallas Center, Huxley and Kelley. Following her farm life, she worked as a statistician at Iowa State University. She was an active member of Collegiate United Methodist Church in college and while living in Ames. She loved cooking, sewing, crocheting and visiting with family and friends.

She is survived by sons, Alan Woodrow and wife, Sandy, of Littleton, Colo., and Roy Woodrow, of Ames; grandchildren Elizabeth Woodrow, of Columbus, Ohio, and Theodora Madison, of Ames; one sister, Clara Brown, of Boone; one brother, Dean Brown and wife, JoAnn, of Illinois, and a host of family and friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband; one sister, Elva Brown Geyman; and four brothers Loren, Edwin, Dwight and Gail Brown.

Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 2, at First United Methodist Church in Boone.

Memorials may be directed to First United Methodist Church, Boone or Collegiate United Methodist Church, Ames.

Adams Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
