THE STORY CITY HERALD, Story City, Story County, Iowa, Wednesday, March 22, 2006.

Hannah Hauge Tesdall passed away from heart failure on March 13, 2006 at Mary Greeley Medical Center in Ames, Iowa at the age of 101 years, 2 months, and 11 days. Funeral services were held Monday, March 20, 2006 at 10:00 am. at Timberland Village in Story City with burial to follow at Palestine Cemetery near Huxley. Visitation was held Sunday, March 19, 2006 from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. at Soderstrum Funeral Home in Story City.

Hannah Hauge was born January 2, 1905 on a farm north of Huxley, a daughter of Norwegian immigrants Hans and Anna Hauge. She lived her entire life in Story County, Iowa. Hannah was baptized and confirmed in the Lincoln Lutheran Church in Huxley. This was a branch of the Palestine Church and when it disbanded she became a member of Palestine Church near Huxley. She graduated from Huxley High School in 1922, one of a class of five.

On February 2, 1924 Hannah Hauge and Jonas Tesdall were married in the Hauge Home. This day was also the 25th wedding anniversary of her parents. To this union were born three children, Robert Wayne, Kenneth Laverne, and Bonnie Louise.

They farmed in the Huxley area for several years and then moved to a farm they purchased near McCallsburg. They were active members in the McCallsburg community and Bethany Lutheran Church for thirty years. Jonas passed away on December 19, 1964. Soon after that Hannah moved to Story City where she helped build her own house. She worked at Bethany Manor in the housekeeping department for twenty years and retired at the age of eighty. She was an active member of Immanuel Lutheran Church.

Hannah had many hobbies. She loved to sew, tat, crochet, knit, embroider, garden, and cook. Her favorite hobby was quilting. Quilts were made for all her family members as they were given as wedding gifts and baby quilts were made for all the babies. She was also a willing volunteer as she quilted at Immanuel Church and Bethany Manor and helped out at the Senior Center. She often taught her children and grandchildren by example rather than by words. Hannah was a great inspiration to all.

She leaves to mourn her death, her daughter and son-in-law, Bonnie and Wayne Seydell; one daughter-in-law Joan Tesdall; eight grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; and 12 great-greatgrandchildren.

Preceding her in death were her husband, Jonas; two sons, Robert and Kenneth; her parents, Hans and Anna Karina Hauge; two sisters, Ellen Kenison and Aletta Wee; a brother Ole; and two half-brothers Ben and Helmer.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be given to Bethany Life Communities or Immanuel Lutheran Church, both of Story City.
