Ray G. Weir, 79, lifelong Colo resident, died Sunday, Dec. 23, at home. Per his request, his body was donated to the University of Iowa Medical College in Iowa City. No services are planned.

Ray G. Weir was born July 22, 1928, in Colo, to Orville and Nellie (Jones) Weir. He attended Colo High School and graduated in 1945.

He owned and operated Weirs' Trucking and Shelling for many years, and Weirs Real Estate and Insurance. He was a charter member of the Colo Lions Club and served on many boards in the Colo community and Story County.

He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Jean; two sons, Randy (Carolyn) Weir, of Marshalltown, and Ben (Margaret) Weir, of Colo; one daughter, Marcia (Monte) Nilles, of What Cheer; seven grandchildren, Kim DeWitt, Jeremy DeWitt, Michelle (Dustin) Baumgardner, Chad (Hannah) Weir, Stephanie Weir, Tiffany Weir and Mari Ann Nilles; three great-grandchildren, Mattanah DeWitt, Micaiah DeWitt and Tristan Weir; two brothers, Harold (Fern) Weir, of Iowa City, and Vern (Jan) Weir, of Corpus Christi, Texas; and two sisters, Edna Ward, of Ankeny, and Lois Jay, of Colo.

Bacon Funeral Home and Crematory is in charge of arrangements.
