Marie Gunhelde Oppedal Jacobson was born May 27, 1913 to parents Mons and Oline (Tredal) Oppedal in rural Hamilton county. She attended rural schools in Clear Lake township and graduated from Stanhope High School. She attended business school in Des Moines and after graduating worked for an insurance company there.

She moved to California and married Elmer Jacobson on Nov. 22, 1941. After their marriage, she worked at Bullocks Department Store for 25 years.

Marie passed away Dec. 7, 2005 in Los Angeles, California at the age of 92.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Elmer on Sept. 28, 2001, two sisters, Astrid Oppedal and Tillie Brekke, and two brothers, Hans Oppedal and Ludwig Oppedal.

She is survived by three nieces, Orvella Batchelder, Helga Kennedy (Gary) and Marilyn Hill (Jeff); and four nephews, Cleo Brekke, Donald Brekke, Richard Brekke and Marvin Oppedal.

Services will be held at St. Paul's Lutheran Free Church in rural Jewell on Wednesday, Dec. 21 at 1:30 p.m. Burial will be in the Lake Center Cemetery near
Stanhope.
