THE AMES TRIBUNE, Ames, Story County, Iowa, Sunday, December 23, 2007.

Joan E. (Stock) Scott, 75, formerly of Ames, died Thursday, Dec. 20, in Hot Springs, Ark. Funeral Mass will be at 10 a.m. Monday, Dec. 24, at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Hot Springs, Ark. Burial will be in Highland Memory Gardens in Des Moines.

Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. today at the Caruthe-Hale Funeral Home, 155 Section Line Road, Hot Springs, Ark., with the rosary at 7 p.m.

Joan E. (Stock) Scott was born Dec. 7, 1932, in Denison. Her family moved to Ames in 1939, and Joan graduated from Ames High School in 1951. She worked for the Iowa Department of Transportation for 40 years. Joan married Gene Scott in 1983. They retired to Hot Springs in 1995. Joan was active in the Hot Springs Women's Welcome Club and enjoyed playing bridge. She loved music and was proficient in playing the piano and was a member of the church choir.

She is survived by her sister, Rita Allison; brother-in-law, George Allison; one niece; and five nephews.

Joan was preceded in death by her husband, Gene, and sister, Ellen C. Stock.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the church.
