Robert R. "Bob" Augustine, 91, of Circleville, Ohio, and formerly of Ames, died Sunday, Dec. 2, at Pickaway Manor in Circleville. Funeral services will be at 4:30 p.m. Friday, Dec. 7, at Trinity Lutheran Church, 135 E. Mound St., Circleville, with Pastor Karen Martin Kepner and Pastor Howard Clevenger officiating. Visitation will begin one hour prior to the service at the church.
Robert R. "Bob" Augustine was born July 31, 1916, in Maloy, the son of the late Harry Lee and Florence Ada (Johnson) Augustine. He was a World War II Army veteran. He and his wife, Pauline, owned and operated Ames Engraving Company. A member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Circleville, he was a member of the Couples Club and the Monday Morning Bible Study group. An active church volunteer all his life, he also was an avid gardener and enjoyed traveling, photography, hiking and swimming. He took great joy in the time he spent as a volunteer reading to children at Village Nursery School in West Layfayette, Ind., and at Brooks-Yates in Circleville.
A loving husband, father and grandfather, he is survived by three daughters, Mary (Jack) Johnson, of San Diego, Edie (Donald) Bachman, of Circleville, and Lynn Hade, of Lancaster, Pa.; and six grandchildren, Aaron Johnson, Jamie (Tiffany) Bachman, Melissa Johnson, Rebecca (Barth) Pobee, Kristin (Kursat) Sendur and Anna Hade.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 65 years, Pauline (Vorhes) Augustine on May 23, 2007; and one brother, Eugene Edward Augustine.
His service to others continues in death by his anatomical donation to the Ohio University College of Osteopathic Medicine.
