OBITUARY
Helen Jane Shearer came to gladden the hearts of her parents on July 14, 1929, at Collins, Iowa. but God needed another angel in Heaven and little Helen answered the call to His summons on Wednesday, Sept. 18, 1929, at Iowa Lutheran hospital, Des Moines, Ia., aged nine weeks and three days. While her stay on this earth was but of short duration, she had endeared herself to the hearts of many, who though they know that their loss is Heaven's gain, greatly mourn her departure. She is preceded in death by a baby sister Mariea Belle, and is survived by her parents, Mr. and Mrs. C. O. Shearer, brother Charles Thomas, and a host of other sorrowing relatives and friends.
Through this dark day your heart is sick with grieving and torn with disbelieving.
Though now you weep
Across the deep
Tempestuous sea of sorrow lies a shore
Where peace shall soothe your soul forevermore
(NOTE: Parents Charles Orion and Josephing (Tracy) Shearer; C.O. was the son of Eli Anderson and Martha Jane (Jones) Shearer)
