Marvin Ceaser

LAUREL - Funeral services for Marvin Ceaser, 77 of rural Laurel, will be held at 1:30 p.m. Thursday at the Estel-Perrin-Avey Chapel in Marshalltown.

The Rev. Neil Montz will conduct services. Burial will be in Rose Hill Memorial Gardens.

Friends may call after 2 p.m. today and visitation with the family will be held from 7 to 8:30 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Memorial contributions to the Laurel United Methodist Church will be accepted.

He died Monday at the Iowa Methodist Medical Center in Des Moines.

Survivors include his wife, Bernice, one son, Jerry Ceaser of Marshalltown; three daughters, Marilyn Riggins and Carol Barker of Marshalltown, Jean VanKuren of Manchester, N.H.; seven grandchildren, and one brother, Loyd Ceaser of Laurel.

He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister.

Mr. Ceaser farmed the family farm for all of his adult life and was a long time cattle feeder.

He attended the Zion United Methodist Church in Laurel.

The son of George and Rosa Zesch Ceaser, he was born Aug. 24, 1915 near Laurel. Mr. Ceaser received his education near Laurel.

He was married to Bernice Lafrenz on Feb. 14, 1938, in Nashua, Iowa. ~ The Newton (IA) Daily News, August 1993
