THE AMES TRIBUNE, Ames, Story County, Iowa, Tuesday, October 2, 2007.

June 7, 1915-Sept. 29, 2007

Irene Ethel Madison, 92, of Nevada, died Saturday, Sept. 29, at Mary Greeley Medical Center in Ames. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 3, at Memorial Lutheran Church in Nevada, with Pastor Myron Herzberg officiating. The body will be cremated following the service, and burial of the cremains will be privately held in Nevada Municipal Cemetery.

Irene Ethel Madison was born June 7, 1915, in Roland, to Iver and Elsie (Braland) Sampson. She married F. LaVern "Buss" Madison Nov. 22, 1936, in Roland. She made draperies for Page's Decorating in Nevada. She was a member of Memorial Lutheran Church. Irene enjoyed knitting, sewing and crocheting.

She is survived by one son, Fred Madison, of Cedar Rapids; three daughters, Shirley Cotton, of Bellville, Ill., Janice White, of Huxley, and Connie Ball, of Gilbert; one sister, Charlotte Lee, of Nevada; one nephew, Robert Lee, of Radcliffe; 12 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; and one great great-grandson.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband on July 12, 1985; one son, Roger on May 24, 2001; and one brother, Mervin Sampson.

Visitation with the family will be from 6 to 8 tonight at Chet Ryan Mortuary, 708 Fifth St., in Nevada.

A memorial fund has been established for her at Memorial Lutheran Church.
