Wayne Mander, 37, of Gilbert, died Thursday, Aug. 9, at Mercy Hospital in Des Moines. Funeral services are pending with Soderstrum Funeral Home in Story City.

Wayne Clarke Mander, 47, of Gilbert, died Aug. 9 at Mercy Hospital in Des Moines. Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 14, at Grace United Methodist Church in Story City. Burial will be in the Story City Cemetery.

Wayne Clarke Mander was born June 6, 1970, in Omaha, Neb., to Wayne and Karen (Herman) Mander. He was an engineer for the Iowa Department of Transportation.

He is survived by his wife, Sharla, of Gilbert; a daughter, Caitlin, and a son, Alec, both at home; his parents, Wayne and Karen Mander, of Crescent; a sister, Jenny Olive, of Story City; a brother, Brian Mander, of Lincoln, Neb.; and grandparents, Elroy Mander of Crescent, Eileen Miller of Omaha, Neb., and Norma Duros of Omaha, Neb.

He was preceded in death by his grandfather, Clarke Herman.

Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Monday, Aug. 13, at Soderstrum Funeral Home in Story City. In lieu of flowers, a memorial has been established for his children's education.
