Reuben Erickson, 92, of Roland, died Thursday, Aug. 9, at Bethany Manor in Story City. Funeral services are pending with Soderstrum Funeral Home.

Reuben Harris Erickson was born Oct. 14, 1914, in Roland to Ole J. and Carrie Ritland Erickson and passed away Aug. 9 at Bethany Manor in Story City.

Reuben Harris Erickson graduated from Roland High School and attended Iowa State University prior to working for Shell Oil Company for 25 years. He married June Ose in 1939, and they lived their entire lives in Roland prior to moving to Bethany Manor. He established the Sons of Norway in Story City and worked for Hach Chemical Co. in Ames for 15 years before retiring. Reuben and June had three daughters, Karen Erickson, of Plover Wis.; Rosemary Allen, of Appleton Wis.; and Susan (Gordon) Tjelmeland, of Clive. For more than 50 years, Reuben participated in service clubs and community activities as well as the city council. As a member of Bergen Lutheran Church, he participated in several church groups.

His wife, June; mother and father; three sisters, Ella Peterson, Avis Gerardo and Selma Knudtson; and two brothers, Archie and Clarence, preceded him in death.

He is survived by three daughters; five grandchildren, Jennifer (Steve) LaCombe, Menomonee Falls, Wis., Daniel (Shea) Allen, Republic of Singapore, Dr. Eric Morser, Gainesville, Fla., Emily Tjelmeland, Ashburn, Va., and Michael (Clair) Allen, Appleton Wis.; and four great-grandchildren, Chloe and Kai Allen, of Singapore, and Elijah and Sophia LaCombe, of Menomonee Falls, Wis.

Funeral services will be at 1:30 p.m. Monday, Aug. 13, at Bethany Manor with burial in the Roland Cemetery. Visitation will begin prior to the service at 1 p.m.

All memorials will be donated to Alzheimer's Research, unless otherwise designated. Condolences can be sent to suetj@mchsi.com. Soderstrum Funeral Home in Story City is in charge of arrangements.
