Ethel "Peggie" Wendall, 92, of Collins and formerly of Waynetown, Ind., died Tuesday, July 31, at Mary Greeley Medical Center in Ames. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Friday, Aug. 3, at Collins United Methodist Church, with Pastor Pam Flanigan officiating. Visitation will be from 9:30 a.m. until time of service Friday, Aug. 3, at the church. Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 4, in Waynetown Masonic Cemetery in Waynetown, Ind.
Peggie Wendall was born June 27, 1915, in Grenola, Kan., the daughter of John and Franie (Brown) Custer. She married Adrian Allbee, and to this marriage, two daughters were born. They later divorced. She later married Charles Wendall Oct. 3, 1965, in Albuquerque, N.M. Charles preceded her in death June 17, 1992.
She had worked as a seamstress for many years. She enjoyed sewing, crocheting, knitting and various crafts.
She was a member of Collins United Methodist Church, the Women's Circle and the American Legion Auxiliary.
She is survived by two daughters and a son-in-law, Joyce Ann Thomas, of Broken Arrow, Okla., and Carol (Gilbert "Bordy") Hennick, of Collins; three grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Charles; one brother, Bill Custer; two sisters, Bobbie Meyers and Billie White; and one son-in-law, Joe Thomas.
