Irene Thelma Anderson, 82, of Story City, passed away Thursday, Nov. 2, 2006 at Bethany Manor in Story City. Funeral services were held Monday, Nov. 6, at 1:30 p.m. at Elim Lutheran Church in Randall. Burial followed at the Story City Municipal Cemetery. Visitation was held Sunday Nov. 5 from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Bethany Manor Chapel in Story City.

Irene Thelma Anderson was born Sept. 18, 1924 to Hans and Christina (Wicks) Hougland in Gilbert. She graduated Randall High School in 1941. Irene married Carroll Anderson March 31, 1945 at the Immanuel Lutheran Church parsonage in Story City. They lived in Gilbert and Jewell before moving to Story City in 1987. She was a member of Elim Lutheran Church in Randall. Irene was active in the ELCW and liked to bake cakes and lefse. She also liked to quilt and follow her children and grandchildren activities. Her family was the focus per life.

Survivors include her husband Carroll, of Story City; four sons, Gary (Dee) Anderson of Jewell, Jim (Ann) Anderson of Boone, Craig (Sylvia) Anderson of Roland, and John (Lori) Anderson of Story City; one daughter, Vicki (Jim) Breson of Katy, Texas; one brother, Herman Hougland of Story City; one sister, Jeanette Thorsbakken of Story City; one sister-in-law, Ellen Hougland of Randall; 13 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Irene was preceded in death by her parents; three brothers, Selmer, Silas, and Arlen; and one sister, Sylvia Swanson.
