Minnie Mae Kaldenberg, 86, of Ankeny, died July 8 in Ankeny.
She was born in Reasnor on Aug. 16, 1920, the daughter of John and Mary (Ellerbroek) Vandenberg. She lived in Sully prior to moving to Slater in 1954. She was the owner and operator of Brass Menagerie. She married Dewey Kaldenberg on Oct. 12, 1940. Since 1982 she enjoyed spending her winters in Arizona with Dewey, her family and friends.
Survivors include her husband, Dewey of Ankeny; daughters, Sharon (Ed) Rood of Cambridge and Rose (Rich) Gardner of Urbandale; son, Bryce Kaldenberg of Slater; daughter-in-law, Mary Jane Kaldenberg of Slater; grandchildren, Todd Rood, Grant Gardner, Tamra Poling; Lori Kaldenberg, Krissy Kaldenberg, Molly Withers, Charles Gardner and Brian Kaldenberg; and 10 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, one brother, son, Dewey Kaldenberg Jr., and daughter-in-law, Marlys Kaldenberg.
Funeral services were held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, July 11, at Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Slater with the Rev. Heidi Williams officiating. Burial was in the Slater Cemetery. Visitation with the family followed the committal service during fellowship time at the church. Soderstrum-Riis Funeral Home in Slater was in charge of arrangements.
Memorials may be given to Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Slater or Heritage Hall.
