Doris Kleinschmidt, 79, of Ames, died Tuesday, June 19, at Mary Greeley Medical Center. Services are pending with Stevens Memorial Chapel in Ames.

Doris (Boros) Kleinschmidt, 79, of Ames, died Tuesday, June 19, at Mary Greeley Medical Center of complications following a cerebral hematoma suffered June 10. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 9:30 a.m. Saturday, June 23, at St. Cecilia Church in Ames. Cremation will follow the Mass and burial will be at a later date.
Doris (Boros) Kleinschmidt was born May 24, 1928, in Little Falls, Minn., to Alois and Angeline (Schneider) Boros. She married John Kleinschmidt July 11, 1953, in Little Falls, Minn.
Throughout her life, Doris touched the lives of many and was the epitome of generosity. She was an active member of St. Cecilia Church community and of St. Gertrude's Circle and Catholic Daughters of America.
She is survived by her husband, John; two sons, John (Stella), of Fort Atkinson, Wis., and Jim, of Ames; three daughters, Mary (Fred) Spuzello, of West Des Moines, Carol (Bob) Zimmerman, of Des Moines, and Judy Kleinschmidt (Rodrigo Formas), of Urbandale; three sisters, Therese (Toby) Rodseth, of Bloomington, Minn., Evelyn Oothoudt, of Sauk Rapids, Minn., and Annette (Jerry) Fedor, of Little Falls, Minn.; one brother, Donald, of Binghamton, N.Y.; and seven grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Claude, and his wife, Marynell, and Anthony; and one brother-in-law, Gordon Oothoudt.
She was adamant in her belief in the sanctity of life. Because of this strong conviction, memorials to Doris may be made to Birthright of Ames.
Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday, June 22, at St. Cecilia Church, Burke Chapel, with a prayer service and rosary at 7 p.m.
Stevens Memorial Chapel is assisting the family.
