Anna Darlene Fox, 88, of Eugene, Ore., died Wednesday, May 16, in Eugene, of age-related causes. A private service will be held in Eugene, Ore.
Anna Darlene Fox was born Sept. 25, 1918, in Confidence, to Clifford and Nellie Holder. She graduated from Corydon High School, and then earned a bachelor's degree and a master's degrees from Iowa State University in home economics education.
For 15 years, Darlene, as her friends knew her, and her husband Bert (Norbert) operated a retail business, selling televisions and appliances, as well as boats and motors, in Ames. Her intelligence, humor and sincerity made her stand out as someone special. She joined the Ames Woman's Club and soon was elected president. She loved researching and collecting antiques, working in her garden, ballroom dancing and meeting and talking to people. Everything she did she did with great enthusiasm.
She is survived by three sons, Nicholas, Paul and Dan; five grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Norbert; and one daughter, Marilyn.
