Dorothy Mae Dahl, 83, of Story City died May 1, 2007 at her home in Story City. Funeral services were Saturday May 5, 2007 at 10:30 am at Stavanger Lutheran Church in Garden City. Burial will follow in the Story City Cemetery.

Dorothy was born February 13, 1924 in West Bend, Iowa to John C. and Lydia (Eggli) Benninger. She married Oscar Dahl on June 15, 1941.

She is survived by her children, Irene (Jim) Brekke of Exeter, NE, Gloria Franz of Huxley, Bernie (Beth) Dahl of West Lafayette, IN, James (Linda) Dahl of Urbana, MO, Bev (Bob) Schmeling of Altoona, and Karen (Michael) Weltha of Story City; 16 grandchildren; 26 great grandchildren; and two brothers, L. David Benninger of Savoy, IL and Herb Benninger of Mesa, AZ.

Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Oscar; brothers, Walton and Freddie Benninger; and sisters, Anna Lenart and Ruth Matthews.

Visitation will be Friday from 5 to 7 at Soderstrum Funeral Home in Story City.
