Herbert N. Severson, 82, formerly of Roland, died Wednesday, April 25, at Bethany Manor in Story City. Funeral services are pending with Soderstrum Funeral Homes.

Herbert N. Severson, 82, of Roland, died Wednesday, April 25, at Bethany Manor in Story City. Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday, May 2, at Bergen Lutheran Church in Roland. Burial will be in Roland Cemetery.

Herbert N. Severson was born Dec. 10, 1924, in Cambridge, to Howard and Thelma (Brown) Severson. He married Arline Myrland Oct. 28, 1945.

He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Arline, of Story City; one son, Michael Severson, of Eagle Grove; two daughters, Vivian Severson, of Manchester, Conn., and Linda (Robert) Wheeler, of Radcliffe; and six grandchildren, Peter Hindle, Jamie Welch, Adam Wheeler, Patrick, Jennifer and Lindsey Severson. Other survivors include one brother, Duane Severson, of Ames; and three sisters, Maxine Thomason, of Ames, Elaine Smith, of Roswell, N.M., and Juanita White, of Gordon, Neb.

He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Arlin and Earl.

Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesday, May 1, at Bethany Manor Chapel, with a prayer service at 6:30 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, a memorial may be given to American Cancer Society.

Soderstrum Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
