THE AMES TRIBUNE, Ames, Story County, Iowa, Sunday, April 1, 2007.

Barton Pruhs, 70, of Radcliffe, died Friday, March 30, at Mercy Medical Center in Des Moines. The family will receive friends from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday, April 1, at Boeke Funeral Home in Radcliffe. Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday, April 2, at Our Savior's Lutheran Church in Radcliffe, with Rev. Daniel Hart officiating. Burial will be in Radcliffe Cemetery.

Bart was the only child born to Elmer and Gertrude (Peterson) born on March 7, 1937 in Davenport.

He graduated from Calamus High School in 1955. He was inducted into the U.S. Army on March 10, 1960. He served most of his two years of service at Fort McPherson, Georgia.

On March 18, 1961, he was married to Anne M. Sorensen and had three children; Kirk, Rick and Chris. While raising his family, he earned his bachelor's degree in 1976 from Iowa State University. He was the Vocational Agriculture teacher in the Radcliffe School District from 1976 to 1998. On Dec. 31, 1983, he was married to Eva Isaac at Our Savior's Lutheran Church in Radcliffe.

He enjoyed working on antique John Deere tractors, spending time with family and friends, playing cards and warming up by his fireplace. As the recipient of two transplants, he was a proponent of organ donation.

He is survived by his wife, Eva, of Radcliffe; three children, Kirk (Mary) Pruhs, of Pittsburgh, Pa., Rick (Marti) Pruhs, of Aurora, Ill., and Chris (Joe) Ernst, of Alameda, Calif.; four step-children, Rich (Linda) Isaac, of Ankeny, Connie (Jody) Mesch, of Eldora, Susan (Rich) McKittrick, of Ankeny and Lisa (Kent) Handeland, of Story City; 12 grandchildren and 1 great-grandchild; along with other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

A memorial fund has been established to benefit the Polysystic Kidney Disease Foundation along with a Vocational Agriculture Scholarship Fund at South Hardin High School.
