Frank L. Gammon, 86, of Ames, died Sunday, March 4. A private family service will be at a later date.

Frank L. Gammon was born April 6, 1920, in Leon, Iowa, the son of James and Goldie (Smith) Gammon. He married Leota Sharp Oct. 21, 1938, in Boone. He had been a resident of Ames since 1938. He was a lieutenant in the Ames Fire Department until he retired in 1971. He owned and operated his own construction company and built many houses in and around the Ames area. He was a member of Bethesda Lutheran Church in Ames.

He is survived by one daughter, Sherry (Billy) Miro, of Fairfield, Conn.; two sons, Kenneth (Judy), of Oklahoma City, and Stephen (Kathy), of St. Paul, Minn.; 10 grandchildren, Robyn, Wendy, Scott, Julie, Celeste, Elizabeth, Sydney, Shane, Spencer and Stephanie; six great-grandchildren, Caleb, Colton, Kendall, Victoria, Andrew and Gage; and one great great-grandson, Cam.

He was preceded in death by his loving wife, Leota; one infant daughter, Nancy Jo; and one son, Daniel Lynn.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Alzheimer's Association.

Arrangements were handled by Memorial Services of Iowa and Story Memorial Gardens.
