THE AMES TRIBUNE, Ames, Story County, Iowa, Tuesday, March 6, 2007.

Margaret Mary Anderson, 80, of Roland, died Sunday, March 4, at Israel Family Hospice House in Ames. Funeral Mass will be at 10 a.m. Thursday, March 8, at St. Peter and Paul's Catholic Church in rural Gilbert. Burial will be in Roland Cemetery.

Margaret Mary Anderson was born July 24, 1926, in Cleveland, Ohio, to Joseph M. and Grace M. (Hornung) Koprek. She married D. Duane "Andy" Anderson in 1948. She worked as a microbiologist at the National Veterinary Services Laboratory in Ames for 22 years. She was a member of St. Peter and Paul's Catholic Church, Friends 'n Service, American Legion Auxiliary, American Federation of Government Employees, Salem Lutheran Church Bible study, River Valley Credit Union Board member, had served on the Luther City Council, Democratic National Party, Friends of the Roland Public Library, Living History Farms interpreter, United Community Stars, Boy Scout den mother, Grand Buddies, Roland-Story Elementary mentor, RSVP and Roland Public Library staff.

She is survived by her 12 children, Michael (Patricia) Anderson, of Luther, Mark Anderson, of Greeley, Colo., Kristin (Larry) Couture, of Nevada, Kraig (Connie) Anderson, of Story City, Linden (Dave) Snyder, of Algona, Lori (Randy) Blask, of Baileyville, Ill., Douglas (Ruth) Anderson, of Ames, Kathleen (Michael) Steenhagen, of Roland, Holly (Kim) Coder, of Danielsville, Ga., Rosemary Anderson, of Roland, Susan (Scott) Anderson, of Harlan, and Nancy (Shawn) Stolte, of Huxley; one son-in-law, Garrett Peterson, of Gilbert; 34 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and one sister, Eleanor Hinds, of Columbus, Ohio.

She was preceded in death by her husband, D. Duane "Andy" Anderson; one daughter, Lael Peterson; one grandson, Joshua Blask; one great-granddaughter, Mia Ray; one brother, Thomas Koprek; and one sister, Dorothy Neel.

Visitation will be after 3 p.m., with the family present from 5 to 7 p.m., Wednesday, March 7, at Soderstrum Funeral Home in Story City, with a vigil service at 7 p.m.

Memorials maybe made to Roland Public Library.
