THE AMES TRIBUNE, Ames, Story County, Iowa, Thursday, February 15, 2007.

Ivon Marie Teeter Wilson died Thursday, Feb. 8, in Issaquah, Wash., of pulmonary fibrosis.

Ivon was born in Blackhawk County and in five years, her family moved to Ames. She graduated from Ames High School in 1941 and Iowa State University in 1945, receiving a bachelor's degree in Foods and Nutrition. She married Archie Spencer Wilson of Portland, Ore., June 11, 1944. They lived in Chicago and Lincoln, Neb., before moving to Richland, Wash., where they raised their family.

While in Richland, she was very active in the American Association of University Women, holding many offices of that organization, and chairman of the local UNICEF cards program. Many summers were spent camping around the northwest where she developed a love for the birds and wildlife. Her love of travel began when she and Archie went to Europe in 1958. They traveled many times to California, Arizona, Iowa and Portland, Ore., to visit family and later to Sweden, Canada, Hawaii, the Yukon and Alaska.

In 1971, they moved to St. Paul, Minn., where she continued her work with AAUW and was chairman of UNICEF cards for the Twin Cities area. In St. Paul, she and Archie renewed their love of gardening with a large produce garden in their back yard. In 1989, they moved back to the Pacific Northwest, residing in Edmonds, Wash.

Her greatest interest, in addition to cooking and gardening, was her family. In 1991, she published her 20-year genealogy project of her mother's side of the family and continued to keep it updated.

She is survived by daughter Andrea, son-in-law Chris Larson, and grandson Geoffrey Spencer Larson, of Seattle; son Ron and granddaughter Arika Marie Wilson, of Vancouver, Wash.; and son Steve, of Edmonds, Wash.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Archie Spencer Wilson.

Her ashes are to be scattered on Mt. Rainier, where Archie is, so she will be joined with him forever.

Remembrances may be made to the American Lung Association, UNICEF or any environmental or wildlife charity of your choice.
