THE MAXWELL TRIBUNE, Maxwell, Iowa, Thursday, April 15, 1915, page 1, column 5. “PIONEER RESIDENT OF JASPER COUNTY DIES – Isaiah Kimberley Passes Away at His Home in Clear Creek Township, Jasper County. Isaiah Kimberley, after a useful and upright life of nearly a century’s span, passed away at his home in Clear Creek Twp., south of Collins, Thursday, April 8th, just six days before reaching his ninety-second birthday anniversary. Deceased was born April 14, 1823, at Coventry, England, and departed this life April 8, 1915. He was the fifth son of John and Mary Kimberley. In 1840 he came to the United States and settled in New York state, where on May 3, 1851, he married Mary Ann Cleverley, who survives him. To this union 15 children were born of whom the following are living; John B., William J., Frank J., Charles H., George A., Mrs. Harriet Swallwell, Mrs. Ada R. Angelo and Mrs. Ruth A. Pearson, also thirty-two grandchildren and twenty great grandchildren. In 1854 he came to Iowa, settling in Allamakee county and living there until 1865, then coming to Jasper county and settling on what is known as the old Kimberley homestead, where he lived an active life until the fall of 1897. At that time he built a little cottage by the side of his son, John, where he spent the remainder of his life. The funeral services was held at the home of John B. Kimberley on Saturday, April 10th, Albert Hart, Pastor of the Church of Christ, of Collins, officiating. Interment at Peoria cemetery. The pall bearers were his five sons and John B. Angelo, of Maxwell, a son-in-law.”
