Ruth E. Smith, 74, of Prairie du Chien, Wisconsin, passed away Thursday, January 18, 2007, at the Prairie du Chien Memorial Hospital after a brief illness.

She was born September 29, 1932 in Lansing, Iowa, to Ernest and Frieda (Richards) Walter. She married Dale Smith on April 15, 1951 in Nevada, Iowa. He preceded her in death on March 16, 1995. She was a past Girl and Boy Scout leader. She managed the antique shop at the MGM Grand Hotel in Las Vegas, Nevada.

Ruth is survived by four daughters, Lynn Conlan of Prairie du Chien, Dana Smith of Marble Falls, Texas, Carol (Brian) Parker of Virginia Beach, Virginia, and Vicki (Jeffrey) Rocho of Marion, Iowa; two sons, Michael (Jeanie) Smith and Jeffrey Smith both of Las Vegas, Nevada; and 13 grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband and a brother, Harold Walter.

Services were held Monday, January 22 at the United Methodist Church, Rev. Stuart Allen officiating with burial in the Evergreen Cemetery, both in Prairie du Chien. The Garrity Funeral Home assisted the family.
