Dec. 4, 1931-Jan. 28, 2007Elsie Peterson Book, 75, of Ames, died Sunday, Jan. 28, at Mary Greeley Medical Center at Ames. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 1, at Bethesda Lutheran Church in Jewell, with the Rev. Michael Werner officiating. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery at Jewell.
Elsie Eleanor Hendrickson was born Dec. 4, 1931, the daughter of Daniel and Eleanor Dyvig Hendrickson. She married Glenn Ardean Peterson Sept. 8, 1953, at Bethesda Lutheran Church in Jewell. The couple resided on the Peterson family farm. They retired from farming in 1984 and continued to reside on the farm. He died June 2, 1985.
She moved to Ames and was a cook at the Delta Zeta House. She also was house director at Sigma Epsilon and for 12 years at Alpha Kappa Lambda.
She married Donald Book June 12, 1993, at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in rural Jewell. The couple resided in Ames. He died Jan. 2, 1999. She continued to reside in Ames.
She was a former member of Bethesda Lutheran Church, a choir member and a member of circles of her church.
She is survived by daughters and son-in-law, Glenda and Greg Richardson, of Forest City, and Evelyn Holmstrom, of Belvidere, Ill.; one grandson, John Richardson, of Pella; two sisters, Doris Klaver, of Webster City, and Dorothy Frohling, of Woolstock; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her husbands, she was preceded in death by her parents; one daughter in infancy; one sister, Charlotte Faust; and three brothers-in-law, Martin Faust, Richard Klaver and Bernard Klaver.
Visitation will be from 5 to 7 tonight at Foster Funeral and Cremation Center in Webster City, and after 9:30 a.m. Thursday at the church.
Memorials may be given to the family for use at its discretion.
