Betty Wilson Friedrich, 82, of Ames, died today at Mary Greeley Medical Center. Arrangements are pending with Adams Funeral Home.

Betty K. Wilson Friedrich died Tuesday, Jan. 30, at Mary Greeley Medical Center of complications of heart and kidney failure. Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Friday, Feb. 2, at Collegiate United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Jim Shirbroun officiating.
Betty K. Wilson Friedrich was born in 1924 in Montour, to Arlena Mae (Lamar) and Wilbur A. Kellogg. She attended school there until she moved to Ames during her junior year in high school. She graduated from Ames High School in 1941. She married Leo W. Wilson in 1941 in Mexico, Mo. He died in 1982. She married Robert K. Friedrich Sr. of R. Friedrich and Sons Inc. in September 1986.
She was a retiree from Northwestern Bell in 1982. She was a member of the Telephone Pioneers of America, a retirement group from Northwestern Bell; a member of ABWA, where she had the honor of being named Woman of the Year; and a member of Collegiate United Methodist Church.
She is survived by one son, Dr. Lon J. Wilson, of Houston; one daughter, Vicki Wilson Ripley, of Ames; grandchildren, Carisa Ripley Danielson and Brandon Ripley; four great-grandchildren, Jaden, Lailah, Jaxon and Addyson; stepsons, William (Bill) Friedrich, of Las Vegas, and Robert K. (Terri) Friedrich Jr., of Ames; step-grandchild, Heidi Friedrich, of Ames; and one sister, Helen Humphries, of Wichita, Kan.
She was preceded in death by her first husband, Leo; one son, Mark; and one daughter, Teri J. Wilson.
Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 1, at Adams Funeral Home.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Mary Greeley Medical Center Foundation.
