THE AMES TRIBUNE, Ames, Story County, Iowa, Saturday, January 27, 2007.

Richard Mayo Throckmorton, 85, Ex-Prisoners of War National Commander, of Omaha, died Wednesday, Jan. 24, in Omaha, Neb. Services will be at 3 p.m. Monday, Jan. 29, at First Christian Church of Panora. Interment with full military honors by Panora American Legion Post 372 and VFW Post 5510 will be in West Cemetery in Panora.

Survivors include his wife, Jeanne; his children and their spouses, Terry Throckmorton and wife, Judith Ann, of Harrisonburg, Va., Richard Throckmorton Jr. and wife, Pat, of Colorado Springs, Colo., Kevin Throckmorton and wife, Missy, of Omaha, and Cindy Bruggeman and husband, Jim, of Templeton; 12 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and brother, Adel Throckmorton, of Ames.

His parents, Elisha M. and Ada (Bass) Throckmorton, preceded him in death.

Visitation will be from 9 a.m., with family receiving friends from 2 to 4 p.m., Sunday, Jan. 28, at the West Center Chapel, 7805 West Center Road in Omaha, and from 1 to 3 p.m. Monday, Jan. 29, at the church in Panora.

Memorials may be given to American Ex-Prisoners of War Service Foundation.

Arrangements are being handled by Heafey-Heafey-Hoffmann-Dworak-Cutler West Center Chapel in Omaha.
