Frank Henry Schneider Jr., 82, of Ames, died Friday, Jan. 26, at Northcrest Health Care Center in Ames. Services will be at a later date. Burial will be in Englewood, Calif.

Frank Henry Schneider Jr. was born Sept. 10, 1924, in Marshalltown, to Frank Henry Sr. and Florence (Lee) Schneider. He was a graduate of Melbourne High School and a 1950 graduate of Iowa State University. He was a civil engineer, retiring in 1979. Frank served in the U.S. Army Air Corps during WWII. He had lived in Santa Maria, Calif., for 22 years before moving back to Ames in October 2003.

He married Patricia Johnson in State Center. She preceded him in death in 1977. On Oct. 13, 1981, he married Jean Holmes in Las Vegas.

He enjoyed woodworking and music, especially live jazz, and designed his home in Santa Maria.

Survivors include his wife, Jean, of Ames; children, Dana Lee (Javaid) Lodhie, of Portland, Ore., and Greg Scott Schneider, of Rancho Palos Verdes, Calif.; stepdaughter, Julia Ann (Fred) Phillip, of Hood, Va.; brother, John Jay (Patsy) Schneider, of Savannah, Ga.; three grandchildren, Lindsey Lee Lodhie, Haley Jean Lodhie and Michael Ito; and one step-grandchild, Orion Wallace.

His first wife, Patricia; daughter, Cynthia Ann Ito; and stepson, Geoffrey Wallace, preceded him in death.

Adams Funeral Home is handling the arrangements.
