July 5, 1924-Jan. 18, 2007Leona L. Tilley, 82, of Ogden, died Thursday, Jan. 18, at Israel Family Hospice House in Ames. Mass of Christian burial was this morning at St. John's Catholic Church in Ogden. Burial was in St. John's Catholic Cemetery in Ogden.
Leona L. Kowalewski was born July 5, 1924, in Ashton, Neb., the daughter of Cashmere and Constance (Wardyn) Kowalewski. She attended schools in the area of her birth and was a graduate of the Wood River High School. She married Floyd Tilley in 1949. She was a homemaker and worked as a waitress. He died Sept. 1, 1985.
She was a member of St. John's Catholic Church and belonged to the Altar Rosary Society. She enjoyed flowers, taking walks and watching the birds and squirrels that she would feed daily. Most of all, she treasured the time spent with her children and grandchildren.
She is survived by six children, David (Susie) Anthoney, of Ogden, Donna (Gary) Lindgren, of Ogden, Gary Hunter, of Stratford, Jim Tilley, of Ames, Mary Tilley (Kent McWilliam), of Paton, and Patty (Tom) Buckley, of Ogden; 16 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Floyd Tilley; and two brothers, Richard Kowalewski and Virgil Kowalewski.
Memorials may be left to the discretion of the family.
Carson Funeral Home in Ogden was in charge of arrangements.
