Steven C. Sampson, 54, of Ames, died Wednesday,

Dec. 27, at Mary Greeley Medical Center. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 2, at Adams Funeral Home, with Jeff Dodge officiating. Burial will be in Ames Municipal Cemetery.

Steven C. Sampson was born May 31, 1952, in Ames, to Charles and Doris (Ballard) Sampson. He was a graduate of Ames High School. He served in the U.S. Army and was a member of the honor guard in Arlington Cemetery. He was employed as a banker.

Steven enjoyed fishing, kayaking, canoeing, baking and cooking, and playing guitar and piano.

Survivors include his father, Charles Sampson, of Ames; two sons, Joe (Kelly) Sampson, of Bellefonte, Pa., and Mark Sampson, of Iowa City; one sister, Susan (Danny) Kepley, of Ames; and nieces and nephews.

His mother, Doris Sampson, preceded him in death.

Visitation will be from 3 to 5 p.m. Monday, Jan. 1, at Adams Funeral Home.
