THE AMES TRIBUNE, Ames, Story County, Iowa, Thursday, November 30, 2006.

Ethel Nancy (Larkin) Fox, 97, a resident of the Jerome Home in New Britain, Conn., and a former resident of Ames, died Tuesday, Nov. 28. A private service and burial will be in Maryland. There are no calling hours.

Born in Jellico, Tenn., she grew up with relatives in upstate New York after the early deaths of her parents. As a young adult, she moved to Washington, D.C., to work for the American National Red Cross, residing at Miss Mary Addison Ingle's Lodge for Girls. It was there at tea that she met her future husband, the late William Guy Fox.

She moved to the Jerome Home in 2001 to be near family, having previously lived in Silver Spring, Md., for 40 years, and prior to that she lived in Iowa from 1943-59, living in Ames from 1951-59, where she was an active member of St. John's by the Campus Episcopal Church.

She is survived by five children and their spouses, Ann Fox Stensland and her husband, Wayne, of Kelley, Nancy Fox Judd and her husband, Dr. Richard L. Judd, of New Britain, Conn., James E. Fox and his wife, Karla, of Avon, Conn., William B. Fox and his wife, JoAnn, of Dickerson, Md., and W. Guy Fox, and his wife, Mary, of Yorba Linda, Calif.; 14 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by one sister, Ida L. Larkin; one brother Alan B. Larkin; and two granddaughters.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Larkin-Fox Fund for the Arts, CCSU Foundation, P.O. Box 612, New Britain, CT 06050.
