Marjorie Holbrook, 78, of Boone and formerly of Ames, died Nov. 21, at the Boone County Hospital in Boone. Funeral services will be Saturday, Nov. 25, at 10:30 a.m. at Central Christian Church in Boone. Burial will be in Boone Memorial Gardens.

Marjorie was born in Boone County on May 19, 1928, the daughter of Robert and Ruby (Phipps) Reynoldson. On Aug. 5, 1951, Marjorie married Bill D. Holbrook in Boone. Marjorie was a cook for the Boone Community School District and then was a cook and supervisor in the kitchen at the Evangelical Free Church Home in Boone, retiring in 1989. She lived with her daughter Carla in Ames for several years in the early 2000's. She enjoyed traveling, making greeting cards, scrap booking, cooking, reading and family activities.

She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband and a sister. Marjorie is survived by a son, Randy Holbrook and wife, Rose, of Boone; three daughters, JaNell Tutje and husband, David, of Des Moines, Carla Holbrook, of Ames, and Cindy Johnson and husband, Kevin, of Coralville; three brothers, Roger Reynoldson, of Pilot Mound, Ronald "Ron" Reynoldson, of Hillsboro, Ore., and Dennis Reynoldson, of Iowa Falls; five sisters, Kathleen Nordstrom, Helen Mattson and Carolyn Webb, all of Boone, LeAnne Lewiston, of Ogden, and Nancy McInerney, of Denver, Colo.; six grandchildren and two great-grandsons.

Friends may call from noon until 9 p.m. at the Schroeder Memorial Chapel at Sixth and Marshall streets in Boone on Friday, where the family will be present from 7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Visitation on Saturday will be from 9:30 a.m. until service time at the church.

Memorials may be given to Hospice of Central Iowa.
