Ames newspaper. Ethel N Foster, the daughter of Sven and Ellen (Mathison) Nessa, was born in Steamboat Rock, Iowa, Feb 8, 1905 and died at Mary Greeley Medical Center of a heart attack, Dec 12, 1987, at the age of 82. Funeral services were held Dec 17 at 1:30 p.m. at Ascension Lutheran Church, Ames, with Pastor William Ostroot officiating. Burial was in the Story City Municipal cemetery. She and her family moved to Story City in 1911. She graduated from Story City High School and Central Iowa Business College in Marshalltown. She was employed by the Chamber of Commerce and the Willard Fur Company, both of Marshalltown, before beginning 43 years of employment as a secretary in what was then the College of Home Economics, Iowa State. On July 20, 1935 she married Glen Foster, who died May 6, 1963. In 1972 she was a recipient of a Superior Service Award given by the Iowa State University Alumni Association. Survivors include her son, Dr Cole Foster, Alamosa, Colorado, two sisters, Stella Frost, Oakland, California, Gail Foster Concialdi, Rockford,Illinois. Preceding her in death were her husband, her parents, a daughter and a sister who died in infancy.
