Ames newspaper, 1976. Funeral services for Ardis Dodds, 70, of RR 1, Ames, are Thursday at 1:30 pm from the Adams Funeral Home. The Rev Allen Sparks of the Gilbert Congregational Church will officiate with burial in the Ames Municipal Cemetery. Mrs Dodds died at the North Grand Care Center Modnay evening March 15. She was born Oct 23, 1905 in Ames. Her parents were John W and Nellie Haverly. She was a lifetime resident of the area. Mrs Dodds graduated from Ames High School in 1923. She was a member of the First Congregational Church. Mrs Dodds married Galen Dodds Aug 22, 1924. She is survived by her husband, a son, John D Dodds of RR1, Ames, a daughter, Joyce Doolittle of RR 3, Boone; one sister, Mrs Norma Bennett of St Paul, Minn, and four grandchildren. Mrs Dodds was preceded in death by her parents, a daughter, Mary Lou in 1935 and a brother, Lyle A Haverly in 1941. Friends may call Wednesday afternoon until time of service at the Adams Funeral Home.
