Feb. 5, 1930-Nov. 10, 2006Nadine V. Carr, 76, of Ames and formerly of Marion and Des Moines, died Friday, Nov. 10, at Israel Family Hospice House in Ames. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday, Nov. 16, at First United Methodist Church in Ames, with the Rev. Fred Lewis officiating. Burial will be in Highland Memory Gardens Cemetery in Des Moines.
Nadine Velma Meyer Carr was born Feb. 5, 1930, in Fairmont, Neb., the seventh of 10 children born to Henry and Bertha (Isley) Meyer. She was raised in Nebraska and southwestern Iowa and graduated from Norwalk High School in 1949. She married Eddie L. Carr Jr. June 24, 1951, at Union Park Methodist Church in Des Moines.
She was a homemaker and enjoyed sewing, playing board games and spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
She is survived by her husband of 55 years, Eddie; daughters and sons-in-law, Diane and Arnie Wonders, of Nevada, Debra and Leonard Mermel, of Barrington, R.I., Kaylene and David Pagliai, of Walford, and Kristy and Gary Marnin, of Ames; eight granddaughters, Angelina (Joe) Diedrichs, Alethea (Jason) Decklever, Emily (Ryan) Neely, Elizabeth Mermel, Tiffany (Rustin) Krapfl, Theresa (Bradey) Adams, and Sarah and Caroline Marnin; one grandson, Elliot Mermel; eight great-grandchildren, Athena Bowen; Heather, Grace, Maebel and Luke Krapfl; Noelle and Ava Diedrichs, and Declan Adams; five sisters, Irene Ulmer, Geniece Ulmer, Henrietta Huss, Dorothy Jean Curtis and Marilyn Wright; one brother, Dean Meyer; and many nieces and nephews.
Her parents; two brothers, Kenneth and Donald Meyer; one sister, Betty Jane Holt; and one great-grandchild, Griffin Diedrichs, preceded her in death.
Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 15, at Adams Funeral Home in Ames.
Memorials may be given in her name to the charity of the donor's choice.
