Aug. 6, 1918-Oct. 28, 2006

Charles Clifton "Cliff" King, 88, of Montour and formerly of rural Colo, died Saturday, Oct. 28, at Sunny Hill Care Center in Tama. Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday, Nov. 3, at Chet Ryan Mortuary in Nevada. Burial will be in Colo Cemetery. A luncheon at Colo United Methodist Church will follow the committal service.

Cliff King was born Aug. 6, 1918, at home in Colo, to Charles Ross and Blanche Elmetta (Flanigan) King. He was a 1935 graduate of Colo High School and attended Iowa State University. He married Marjorie Virginia Wilson Oct. 9, 1937, in State Center. He was self employed as an electrician and farmer. He was a member of Sons of the American Revolution, was a 4-H Leader, (4-H member while in high school) and attended the first Story County 4-H Fair. He enjoyed genealogy, word search books, watching TV (RFD channel) and loved talking to people.

He is survived by two sons, Larry Wayne (Audrey) King, of Montour, and Richard Eugene (Marilyn) King, of Marshalltown; one daughter, Karen (Robert) Sackett, of Plymouth, Minn.; one sister, Mary (Wayne) Thompson, of West Des Moines; six grandchildren, John Sackett, of Alcester, S.D., Matthew Sackett, of St. Bonfacius, Minn., and Philip Sackett, of New Brighton, Minn., Joseph King and Michael King, both of Tama, and Ryan King, of Montour; four great-grandchildren, Dillon Sackett and Colton Sackett, both of Alcester, S.D., and Miranda Sackett and Braeden Sackett, both of St. Bonfacius, Minn.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Marjorie, on Sept. 6, 1993; and one sister, Ruth King on April 18, 2005.

The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 2, at Chet Ryan Mortuary in Nevada.

A memorial fund has been established.
