THE AMES TRIBUNE, Ames, Story County, Iowa, Thursday October 26, 2006.
W. Wayne Weber, 86, emeritus associate professor of industrial education and technology, died Sunday, Oct. 22. Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday, Oct. 27, at Adams Funeral Home.
W. Wayne Weber earned bachelor's, master's and doctorate degrees from Iowa State. He served as a first lieutenant in the U.S. Army Air Force during World War II, stationed in the Pacific and Japan. He also served in 1951 during the Korean War, stationed with the atomic energy program at Sandia Base in Albuquerque, N.M. He had many interests and hobbies and particularly enjoyed music. He played the pipe organ and piano, developing his own natural talent to hear music and then play his own version "by ear." He also played his own original tunes. He was a member of NC Harmony Masonic Lodge and the Sioux City Consistory for more than 60 years.
He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Verna Weber, two daughters, Peggy Weber and her husband, John Carella, of Mountain View, Calif., and Jeanne Weber, of Eagle, Idaho; and one grandson, Jonathan Covault, of Norwalk, Conn.
