Stella A. Tjelmeland, 79, of Zearing, died Tuesday, Oct. 24, at Colonial Manor in Zearing. Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 28, at Bethany Lutheran Church in McCallsburg. Burial will be in Roland Cemetery.

Stella Tjelmeland was born July 30, 1927, in Roland, to Andrew and Anna (Peterson) Enes. She graduated from Roland High School in 1945. She married Talmer Tjelmeland Nov. 30, 1947, at Bergen Lutheran Church in Roland. She was a lifelong resident of Zearing and McCallsburg. She was a farm wife and homemaker.

Stella was a member of Bethany Lutheran Church and also was a member of the McCallsburg Legion Auxiliary Unit No. 334.

She is survived by her husband, Talmer Tjelmeland; five sons, Carrol (Karen) Tjelmeland, of Nevada, Norman (Vickie) Tjelmeland, of Zearing, David (Patty) Tjelmeland, of Huxley, Dale (Wendy) Tjelmeland, of Nevada, and Ron (Deb) Tjelmeland, of Zearing; one daughter, Anita (Alan) Johnson, of Iowa Falls; 13 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and two step-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents and one brother.

Visitation with the family present will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday, Oct. 27, at Bethany Lutheran Church in McCallsburg.

Memorials may be directed to Israel Family Hospice House in Ames and Bethany Lutheran Church in McCallsburg.

Fredregill Funeral Home in Zearing is in charge of arrangements.
