Marlin Leslie "Guy" Clark, 79, of Cambridge, died Saturday, Aug. 26, at Mercy Hospice in Johnston. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 31, at Cambridge Baptist Church with Dr. John Hartog officiating. Burial with military honors will be in Cambridge Cemetery.

Guy was born March 18, 1927, in Sioux City, the son of Leslie M. and Delva Stowe Clark. He served in the U.S. Navy. He had worked for the Des Moines Register for nearly 40 years as a mailer and supervisor in mailroom before retiring in 1992. He was a former member and president of the Local Typesetter's Union and had served as the mayor of Cambridge for 18 years. He was an avid bowler and had bowled in the Peterson Classic several times.

He is survived by three sons, David Clark, of Des Moines, Mark (Nora) Clark, of Runnells, and Chris (Kristin) Clark, of Cambridge; three daughters, Judy Bradley, of Niceville, Fla., Stevi Clark, of Niceville, Fla., and Becky Smith, of Norwalk; 19 grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; one brother, Mel Clark, of Pacifica, Calif.; and one sister, Mavis Mansell, of Burleson, Texas.

He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Martin and Marvin; and two sisters, Millie, and Bonnie, in infancy.

Visitation will be from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 30, at Bacon Funeral Home in Nevada
