THE MAXWELL TRIBUNE, Maxwell, Iowa, Thursday, September 8, 1921, page 1, column 4. “HARVEY A. THOMPSON – H. A. Thompson, who formerly resided on the Ryan farm, south of Maxwell, passed away at Torrington, Wyoming, last Thursday and the body was shipped to Maxwell for interment in the Peoria cemetery. Funeral services were held at the cemetery Tuesday afternoon, in charge of Rev. R. L. Mitchell, pastor of the Maxwell M. E. church. Harvey A. Thompson was born in Jasper county, Iowa, March 27, 1857, and died at his home in Torrington, Wyoming, September 1, 1921, at the age of sixty-four years, five months and five days. He lived with his father on a farm near Baxter until he was twenty-one years of age when he was united in marriage to Fannie Cowgill, August 29, 1878. To this union seven children were born, three of whom died in infancy. He leaves to mourn their loss a loving wife and four children: Jas. H. Thompson and Mrs. Ida Bratke, of Alberta, Canada; Mrs. Myrtle V. Oungst, of Glen Flora, Wisconsin, and Mrs. Hazel L. Stevenson, of Torrington, Wyo., all of whom were present at the burial except the son in Canada, who was unable to get here. Also eleven grandchildren and other relatives. Deceased was a successful farmer and a good citizen and had a host of friends in this vicinity where he lived for several years. He was loved and respected by all who knew him.”
