Margit Hilda Larson, youngest daughter of the Rev. and Mrs. Claus Jacobsen, was born April 2, 1887, in Roland and died at her home in Ames April 1 at the age of 67 years, 11 months and 29 days. Her mother died when she was two years old and her father died when she was seven.
The Bergen Lutheran church congregation at Roland decided to place the orphaned children in ministers' homes and Margit was raised in the home of the Rev. and Mrs.Jogenson at Bode. She was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran church and grew to young womanhood under the care of the Jorgensons.
She attended Red Wing Seminary at Red Wing, Minn. After graduation she returned to Roland and taught in the Norwegian parochial school there. She also taught school in Mason City, Guthrie Center and Story City.
On Sept. 1, 1913, she was married to J.A.B. Larson of Story City at Bode. To this union one son, Cecil, was born. They made their home in Story City for about 25 years. She was active in church and civic affairs.
In 1939 they moved to Ames where she became employed by the Big Shoe store, becoming manager of the store in 1944, a position she held until the time of her last illness. During the time she lived in Ames she took an active part in civic affairs, being a member of the Ames Woman's Rotary, Chamber of Commerce and the Soroptimists.
She retained her membership in the St. Petri Lutheran church in Story City.
On Dec. 30 she became ill and after a lingering illness of three months she died at her home at 217 S. Hyland.
Mrs. Larson is survived by her husband, J.A.B. Larson of Ames; her son and daughter-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Cecil Larson of Boone; two grandchildren, Philip and Jeanne; a brother, Alfred T. Jacobsen of Leland; two sisters, Miss Agness Jacobsen of Long Island, N.Y., and Mrs. Hannah Rasmussen of Washington state.
Funeral services were held April 5 with a prayer service at Adams Chapel, Ames, adn at Immanuel Lutheran church, Story City, with the Rev. Fred Erickson of the Bethesda Lutheran church, Ames, in charge. Rev. A. E. Nelson of Roland also spoke. Mrs. Robert Hermanson sang two songs, "Rock of Ages" and "Hark, Hark My Soul."
Pallbearers were I. G. Larson, Harold Skarshaug, Robert Arrasmith of Ames, Clifford E. Johnson, Roland, Tom Case of Boone, and Herman Hanson of Stanhope.
