Obed Donald Ritland, 81, of Roland died Tuesday, Aug. 15, at Mary Greeley Medical Center in Ames. Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday, Aug. 18, at Bergen Lutheran Church in Roland. Burial will be Roland Cemetery.

Obed was born Feb. 24, 1925, on the Ritland family farm, where he lived for 81 years. He married Elnora Froh April 14, 1946. He was a member of Bergen Lutheran Church, where he had served on church council, Heart of Iowa Coop Board and FHA state board.

He is survived by his wife, Elnora; four sons, Eugene (Margaret), of Iowa Falls, Larry (Kay), of Cedar Rapids, Randy (Linda), of Hubbard, and Scott, of Roland; one daughter, Karen (Paul) Munson, of Story City; nine grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and one sister, Esther (Robert) Risdal, of Roland.

He was preceded in death by his parents; one great-grandson, Carter David Nelson; three brothers, Earl, Carroll and Lloyd; and one sister, Alice Anderson.

Visitation will be after 5 p.m. Thursday, Aug.17. with the family present from 6 to 8 at Soderstrum Funeral Home in Story City.

Memorials may be made to his church.
