Robert C. Bell, 55, of Bettendorf, died of natural causes Tuesday, Aug. 8, at his home. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 tonight at McGinnis-Chambers Funeral Home in Bettendorf. Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 12, at the funeral home. Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Rock Creek Cemetery in Ollie.Bob was born Dec. 10, 1950, in Burlington, the son of Robert S. and Bessie E. (Soucek) Bell. He earned a bachelor's degree from the University of Iowa. He was a supply management specialist in the Four-Wheel Drive Loader Module Division of Deere & Company, Davenport Works where he had been employed since September 1979. He donated generously to the Smithsonian Institution and many other worthy causes. He was a devoted son and a loving and generous brother and uncle. He was an avid boater and fisherman.
He is survived by his mother, Bessie E. Bell, of Burlington; his sister, Barbara Bell, of Pasadena, Calif., and her son, John Abt of Paris, France; his sister, Karen Tyllick and her husband, Cliff, of Austin, Texas; his sister, Deborah Blaedel and her husband, Mark of Ames, and their daughters, Anna Blaedel, of Berkeley, Calif., and Emily Blaedel, of Ames; and his brother, Thomas Bell of Burlington.
He was preceded in death by his father, Robert S.
Bob was dearly loved by his family and friends and will be sorely missed.
