Jay Barber

Jay Donald Barber was born in La Mesa, Calif., Dec. 10, 1960. He was the son of Don and Gerry (Curry) Barber, of Radcliffe. Memorial services were at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, July 27, at St. John's United Methodist Church in Radcliffe.Jay graduated from Radcliffe High School and attended the University of Dubuque. He served as a medic in the U.S. Army in Fayetteville, N.C.
He was struck by a train early in the morning Sunday, July 23, in Ames.
He is survived by two sons, Joshua and Lance Barber, of Nevada; three brothers, Dean Barber and Stephanie Newell, of Marshalltown, Dale and wife Monica Barber, of State Center, and Jared and wife Mindy Barber, of Story City; nephews and nieces, Matthew Barber and Melynda McCord, of Marshalltown, Lindsey and Trevor Sirdoruys, of Gilman, Scott, Melissa and Shiloh Barber, of State Center, and Trent and Brayden Barber of Story City; three great-nephews Andrew, Joshua and Jeremiah, of Marshalltown; his parents, Don and Gerry Barber, of Radcliffe; his grandmother, Sarah Gretillat, of Belmond; his great-grandmother, Ione Albert, of California; his step-grandmother, Marian Curry, of Springfield, Maine; and one aunt, Sharon Miller, of Minnesota City, Minn.; along with great-aunts, numerous cousins and friends.
He was preceded in death by a great-nephew, Jonathan Matthew Barber.
Let us give thanks for the life and memory of Jay Barber.
