Ames

Jay Barber, 45, formerly of Radcliffe, IA, was struck by a train early Sunday morning, July 23, 2006 in Ames, IA. Memorial services will be held on Thursday, July 27, 2006 at 10:30 a.m. at St. John's United Methodist Church in Radcliffe, IA. .Boeke Funeral Home of Radcliffe is in charge of arrangements.

Jay Donald Barber was born in La Mesa, California December 10, 1960. He was the son of Don and Gerry (Curry) Barber of Radcliffe, Iowa. He graduated from Radcliffe High School and attended the University of Dubuque. Jay served as a medic in the U.S. Army in Fayetteville, North Carolina.

Jay is survived by his sons, Joshua and Lance Barber of Nevada, Iowa; three brothers, Dean Barber and Stephanie Newell of Marshalltown, Iowa, Dale and wife Monica Barber of State Center, Iowa, Jared and wife Mindy Barber of Story City, Iowa; nephews and nieces, Matthew Barber and Melynda McCord of Marshalltown, Iowa, Lindsey and Trevor Sirdoruys of Gilman, Iowa, Scott, Melissa and Shiloh Barber of State Center, Iowa, Trent and Brayden Barber of Story City, Iowa; three great-nephews Andrew, Joshua and Jeremiah of Marshalltown, Iowa; parents Don and Gerry Barber of Radcliffe, Iowa; grandmother Sarah Gretillat of Belmond, Iowa; great-grandmother Ione Albert of California; step-grandmother Marian Curry of Springfield, Maine; and Aunt Sharon Miller of Minnesota City, Minnesota; along with great-aunts, numerous cousins and friends.

He was preceded in death by a great-nephew, Jonathan Matthew Barber.
