Clyde Sherman SPOONER was born to Sherman and Cora SPOONER on July 16, 1925 at Elkhart, Iowa, where he grew up and attended school until his folks moved to Cambridge. He was united in marriage to Lucille GARDNER, October 2, 1943. To this union was one child born, little Sherry Rae SPOONER. Clyde was called to serve his country February 2, 1944 where he took his training at Camp Walters, Texas.

In August 1944 he was sent overseas where he was stationed in Italy where he gave his life for his country April 15, 1945. At the age of 19 years, 8 months and 15 days. He was laid to rest in the American Cemetery at Castelfiocento, Italy. Until he was returned to the United States for final burial at Peoria.

Clyde was awarded the Purple Heart Infantry Combat Badge and the Good Conduct medal for his services of his country.

He is survived by his widow Lucille , daughter Sherry Rae. His folks Mr. and Mrs. Sherman SPOONER. One brother Lester and four sisters, Mildred, Opal, Agnes, and Lois. Host of nieces and nephews and other relatives and friends.

Funeral services were held in the Cooper Funeral Chapel at 2 o'clock Wednesday afternoon December 1 with Rev. G.H. Halsebus in charge.

Mrs. Theodore Minear sang two solo's "In the Garden" and "Onward Christian Soldiers" with Mrs. H.C.Larson accompanying at the organ.

The pallbearers were Harley Myers, Ernie Travis, T.R. White, Archie Ray, Dale and Kenneth Gardner.

Burial was in the Peoria Cemetery where the Maxwell American Legion and V.F.W. Posts were in charge of the Military Graveside services.
