Margaret M. Hargett, 89, formerly of Ames, died Tuesday, July 18, 2006 at the Colonial Manor in Zearing.Margaret was born November 18, 1916, at Webster City, the daughter of John Henry and Catherine (Keppers) Wanken. She was united in marriage to Robert L. Hargett on Feb. 3, 1940. Robert preceded Margaret in death in 1992. Margaret lived in California for 62 years and served as Vice-president of the Bank of Sierra Savings and Loan. After retiring, she moved to Nevada in 1996 and later moved to Ames, where she lived at the Bickford Cottage and at the Rose of Ames. In January of 2006, Margaret moved to the Colonial Manor in Zearing. She was a member of Saint Patrick's Catholic Church of Nevada.
She is survived by a brother, Kenneth Wanken, of Clarion; two sisters, Verna Watson, of Fort Dodge, and Mildred Studtmann of Saint Paul, Minn.; seven nephews and nine nieces.
Margaret was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, a daughter, Linda Marie in 1993; and a brother, Leo Wanken.
Graveside services will be 10:30 a.m. Friday at the Saint Patrick's Cemetery in Nevada with Father Rick Dagit officiating. A time of gathering will be at 10 a.m. at the Bacon Funeral Home, 1418 Fawcett Parkway in Nevada.
The Bacon Funeral Home and Crematory is in charge of arrangements.
