Velda Haugsted

Velda Jeanette Haugsted, 95 of Nevada died on Sunday, June 25 at Story County Medical Center in Nevada. Funeral services will be 11:00 A.M. on Thursday, June 29 at the First Christian Church-Disciples of Christ with Pastor Brice Hughes officiating. Burial will follow in the Nevada Municipal Cemetery.

Velda was born on November 11, 1910 in rural Nevada to Lars and Laura (Nelson) Haugsted. She was a graduate of Nevada High School. Velda was employed as a cashier at the Nevada National Bank. She was a lifelong resident of Story County. Velda was a member of the First Christian Church in Nevada. She loved being with her nieces and nephews, researching genealogy, gardening, crocheting, and watching basketball.

Velda is survived by 2 brothers, Bill Haugsted of Nevada and Clarence (Rose) Haugsted of Ames; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Velda was preceded in death by her parents and two sisters Beulah McConnell and Hazel Jacobson.

The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church.

Chet Ryan Mortuary in Nevada has been entrusted with Velda's arrangements.
